Find answers to common questions about subscriptions, billing, free scans, and using Ring Identifier on iPhone and Android.
Billing & Pro
6 topicsSubscriptions are managed through your device’s app store, not within Ring Identifier. Here’s how to cancel:
iPhone (Apple)
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, find Ring Identifier, and tap Cancel Subscription.
Android (Google Play)
Open the Play Store → tap your Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, find Ring Identifier, and tap Cancel.
Note: You keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period after you cancel.
Refunds are processed by the app store where you made the purchase, not by us directly.
iPhone (Apple)
Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find your purchase, and request a refund.
Android (Google Play)
Go to play.google.com/store/account, find your order, and tap Request a refund.
You can switch between weekly and yearly plans through your device’s app store settings:
iPhone (Apple)
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, select Ring Identifier, and choose a different plan from the available options.
Android (Google Play)
Open the Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Ring Identifier, and choose a different plan.
All purchases are processed through the app store, so invoices and receipts come directly from Apple or Google:
iPhone (Apple)
Apple sends purchase receipts to the email on your Apple ID. You can also view purchase history at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Android (Google Play)
Google sends receipts to your Gmail. You can also view order history at play.google.com/store/account.
Your Pro subscription is tied to your app store account and can be restored on any device:
iPhone (Apple)
Sign in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. Open Ring Identifier → Settings (or the paywall) → Restore Purchases.
Android (Google Play)
Sign in with the same Google account used for the original purchase. Open Ring Identifier → Settings (or the paywall) → Restore Purchases.
Pro unlocks unlimited successful identifies after your free allowance is used. You still get the same structured results — overview, key characteristics, jewelry details, materials, gemstones, and similar matches — without a scan limit. Billing is handled by the App Store or Google Play; prices shown in the app come from the store.
Using the app
5 topicsNew users get a limited number of successful free identifies. A free scan is consumed only when Ring Identifier returns a successful identified result.
Tip: Uncertain matches, no subject found, poor image quality, or unsupported subjects do not use a free scan. After free scans are used, upgrade to Pro for unlimited identifies.
You need a network connection for identification. Use a clear, well-lit photo with one ring filling most of the frame. If you see an error, tap Retry. Free users need remaining free scans (or Pro) to start a new identify.
Prefer natural light, keep the ring sharp and centered, and avoid heavy blur or glare that washes out metal and stones. One subject per photo works best. If the image is unclear, the app may return an uncertain or unsupported result instead of saving to history.
AI identification can miss or misread details. Treat results as helpful guidance, not a formal appraisal or valuation. Try another angle or clearer lighting. If something consistently fails, email us with example photos via Contact.
Successful identified results (and some uncertain results with a primary match) are saved locally in the History tab. You can open, delete individual entries, or clear all history from Settings. History never syncs to a cloud account because Ring Identifier doesn’t require one.
Privacy & data
3 topicsNo. Ring Identifier does not require signing in or creating an account. You can identify right away. Pro status follows your App Store or Google Play subscription, and history stays on the device.
Photos are prepared on your device (resized and re-encoded) before a copy is uploaded securely for AI analysis. We do not keep a long-term photo archive. Originals and your identification history remain on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Because there is no Ring Identifier account, there is no cloud profile to delete. To remove local data: open Settings → Clear history. Uninstalling the app also removes on-device history and free-scan counters.
Important: Clearing history or uninstalling does not cancel your subscription. Cancel through Apple or Google first (see Billing above) to avoid future charges.
