Privacy Policy

Ring Identifier ("we", "our", or "the app") helps you identify rings from a photo and shows structured details such as materials, gemstones, and similar matches. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app and how we protect it.

1. Information we process

Photos for identification. When you capture or select a photo, the app prepares an image on your device (resize, JPEG re-encode, metadata stripping) and sends that prepared copy over HTTPS to our secure backend (a Cloudflare Worker) to produce an identification result. We do not maintain a long-term archive of your original photo library images on our servers.

Anonymous device / purchase state. Local free-identify limits and Pro entitlement status are managed on device with the store subscription system (via RevenueCat). We do not require an email account to use core identify features.

Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to verify Pro status. We do not receive your payment card details.

Local data on your device. Identified results kept in history, preferences, and related app state are stored locally on your phone. This data does not leave your device unless you back up your phone through Apple or Google.

2. What we do not collect

3. How AI identification works

Your prepared image is sent over HTTPS to our secure backend API. The Worker owns an allowlisted prompt and safety profile for the configured identifier type. The request is not linked to your name or email. Clients never ship or configure the AI prompt text.

4. Camera & photo library access

Identify mode uses your camera and the system photo picker. You choose a specific image; we do not browse your library in the background. Camera access is requested only when you use capture, and can be denied or revoked in system Settings.

5. Data retention

Server-side rate-limit or operational counters may be stored temporarily and linked only to limited identifiers needed for abuse prevention. History on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.

6. Children's privacy

Ring Identifier is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we use minimal identifiers, deleting the app and clearing local data removes most information associated with your use. For subscription data, manage your account through Apple or Google.

8. International users

Our backend infrastructure may process data in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to this processing for the purpose of delivering the service.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
